What do you mean “face” has been trademarked?!
The power of Facebook knows few limits, as demonstrated by the brand’s astronomical growth over the last few years…But now they’ve taken it that little bit further and have received a notice of allowance (one step before the trademark is granted) from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the trademark on the word “face”…when used in the context of online chat rooms or bulletin boards.
So, ok, they don’t own the word “face” completely but that is a good piece of trademarking nonetheless. Unsurprisingly, they also have an application in for the word “book” in a similar set context…
